Global Music Awards: February 2013 Honorees

Jamie OusleyA Sea of Voices,  acoustic music, is soulful and soothing with surprises here and there.  Intended as a not-for-profit album to benefit the environment, the album  features Ousley's own compositions and a few others you wouldn't expect  on a jazz compilation. Ousley is a professor of jazz bass at Florida  International University in Miami and tours internationally with a trio  that joins him on most of the tracks on the album. He has performed for  heads of state including Bill Clinton and King Juan Carlos I and Queen  Sofia of Spain. Ousley performs on double bass, Joe Davidian and Gabriel  Saientz on the piano, Austin McMahon plays drums, Carlomagno Araya  handles percussion, and Nanami Morikawa provides vocals.

Silver Medal Winners - Outstanding Achievement

Alan WilliamsThe Documentary Collection, original score, is one in more than a decade-long list of award-winning compositions. His Amazon IMAX film score received an Oscar nomination. His soaring Kilimanjaro: To the Roof of Africa score  won the Accolade Competition's Best of Show honors. This album, a  double CD set, has 53 tracks of his best composed and conducted  documentary music. 


Chai-Lun Singing Studio, 24 Italian Songs & Arias,  male vocalist, Chai-Lun Yueh, baritone soloist, educator, musical  director, Grammy award nominee, is a professor at Trinity College,  Hartford, and Wesleyan University, Middletown. Most of all Yueh still  keeps doing what he loves - singing. A graduate with highest honor from  the Central Conservatory of Music, Beijing, Yueh has performed in  Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center.


Gatwitch Records - Emmanuel Jal (Canada)We Want Peace,  music video, by Emmanuel Jal featuring Alicia Keys, George Clooney and  Peter Gabriel. Jal is a South Sudanese musician and former child  soldier. As well as a world recognized Hip-Hop artist, Jal is a  humanitarian advocate for social justice and human rights. The upbeat  feel of this music video brings a sense of appreciation and  entertainment to the importance of peace and security. 


Jochen Schild (Germany)Vittoria,  sound editing/sound mixing, represents elegant crafting of sound in a  recording. Sound editing, mixing, sequencing and programing by  multi-talented Jochen Schild who additionally gets credits for  arrangements, music, lyrics and plays the piano in the recording. The  recording is pop-classical crossover. Vocals by Jean Mario Perotto,  Pamela Fuderer and Alexander Lachner. Performed with Deutsches  Filmorchester Babelsberg Orchestra. 


Kenny SeymourTalking with the Taxman about Poetry,  original score, uplifts an indie dramatic film and is filled with  poetic flow. His career as composer, songwriter, arranger, producer and  singer spans digital music, performing arts, motion pictures, television  and Broadway. He has appeared on the Arsenio Hall Show, the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and performances on MTV, VH1 and The Box. 


Rita D'Arcangelo (Italy)Allegro Con Brio,  instrumental performance solo, is currently principal flute at the  Filharmonia Gorzowska in Poland. Prior to this she won the international  competition to be a member of the Hyogo Performing Arts Center  Orchestra in Japan playing more than 300 concerts in the most  prestigious Concert Halls of Japan. This brilliant artist performs using  a 14K all gold Nagahara Flute.


Winifred PhillipsAssassin's Creed III Liberation,  video game music, has been described as superb by GameZone and killer  musicâ by MTV Multiplayer. The soundtrack is composed of 26 tracks  totaling 68 minutes of music. Phillips is a two-time winner of the  Hollywood Music in Media Award. She was the composer for the  award-winning Radio Tales series for National Public Radio.

Angelo Talocci (Italy)Report 51, soundtrack motion picture and television; and The One Dollar Movie,  soundtrack motion picture and television, is part of a repertoire of  1,700 pieces composed in his career. Other original film and television  scores produced in 2012 include music for Alberto Il GrandeDai Nostri Inviati Mostra del Cinema di Venezia, and Apollineum


Christian Sagile, Emirates Airlines: The Brand Theme,  listener impact: motivational/inspirational, was created to branded  signature sound for the airlines. It is the official boarding music used  during on-board flights and in commercials, on-hold music, ringtones,  mobile applications, live events and in digital media. It has a pop  driven feel and modern, energized flavor. 


Emory University - Richard PriorHymn for Nations United,  composition and symphonic music, was originally premiered in The Hague,  Netherlands, as commissioned by AMIS. Following his debut at  Westminster Abbey, Richard Prior's music has been performed and  broadcast throughout Europe and North America. He holds two university  conducting chairs, including one at Emory University. 


Gatwitch Records - Emmanuel Jal (Canada)We Want Peace,  song, is intended to raise awareness about the fundamental principles  of justice, conflict resolution, equality and peace. Through his music,  Jal counts on the unity of the citizens to overcome ethnic and religious  division and motivate the youth, especially in the Sudan. 


Jamie OusleyA Sea of Voices, acoustic instrumental within a group, double bass, named Best South Florida Jazz Musician by Boca Life Magazine,  has played with jazz legends such as Benny Golson, George Shearing and  James Moody. Back Home, a prior release, was named Best South Florida  Jazz Release by the Palm Beach Post


Jeff BroadbentPlanet Side 2: Original Game Soundtrack,  video game music, is a Hollywood Music in Media Award nominated artist  whose passion for music and sound has found expression in the score of  this blockbuster video game. Broadbent's stirring and dynamic music  features a collection of orchestral, choral, ethnic, atmospheric, and  unique synthetic elements.

Laurie Ann HausAnna's Theme - Assassination Games, female vocalist; and Night Song - World of Warcraft,  breakthrough artist, has a flexible voice in both tone and range and  has become a highly sought after vocalist for television, film and video  game soundtracks. She is creator and lead vocalist for the band,  Todesbonden, signed to German record label Prophecy Productions. 


Neal AcreeAssassination Games Soundtrack, soundtrack motion picture and television, the work of Acree alone; and World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria,  video game music, is the work of Acree and fellow artists Russell  Brower, Sam Cardon, Edo Guidotti and Jeremy Soule. All extremely  talented composers and musician, their music has sweeping and bold sounds. 


Robert Neustadt & Chuck CheesmanBorder Songs: A Collection of Music and Spoken Word to benefit No More Deaths/No Mas Muertes,  album, is a compilation to benefit the Southern Arizona humanitarian  group, No More Deaths. The album is intended to raise awareness about  the deaths of undocumented immigrants  who cross into the United States seeking work. It is a double album  featuring works in English and Spanish including Calexico, Dao  Guardabarranco, Eliza Gilkyson, Lilo Gonzalez, Michael Franti and  Spearhead, Amos Lee, Joel Rafael, Tom Russell, Pete Seeger, Sweet Honey  in the Rock and many others. 


Simply Grand Music, Inc. & Ciera OuelletteBad Feelings,  female vocalist, is a single that reflects Ouellette's love of singing  that comes from deep inside. Born in a little town in Texarkana, she  comes by her love of country music naturally. He directs  Calgary Jazz Orchestra which he founded in 2004. He hand-picked 16 of  the best jazz artists for the 17 piece orchestra he leads with his  trumpet.
